It’s a big deal when Hot Natured come to town. Things get very schmoove, neon, and airbrushy. Observe.

Part I is here.
Ultimately, jozif wanted a smuttier, smarmier, more 70’s Boogie Nights vibe. I went back to the drawing board, increased the roller skates content by 100%, and we were all made happy in the end!
Like everyone, I’d love to have weeks and months to labor over my work making endless revisions until everything is just right. But most of the time I’m on a very tight turnaround, and in the case of these two posters for Orchard Lounge, I had only a few hours each.
I don’t want to speak for the man, but I think it’s safe to say that London producer jozif is one of Culprit boss Andrei’s favorite music makers. So when he told me that jozif had created a release specifically for Culprit’s monthly rooftop party at the Standard, Downtown LA hotel (and debuted the track when he headlined Culprit Sessions) I knew we had to pull out the stops.
The refrain in the track is a female vocal repeating “…my temperature’s rising”, so I went with a corresponding palette. The landscape is unmistakably LA, and I even tried to include the historic Superior Oil Company Building that houses the Standard Hotel.
After dutiful review, jozif just didn’t feel like the fit was right. I was pretty happy with how it turned out (don’t be surprised to see this theme pop up again elsewhere), but in the end it’s all about satisfying the client. Stay tuned for part II…
