Just got my first look at some customized laser etched bamboo iPhone cases that Spencer of Orchard Lounge commissioned for his dj-mates Bethany (QB=Queen Bee) and Ben (BS=Ben Silver). I wasn’t sure how the fabrication would turn out, but Grove did a hell of a job. Now I’m considering one for myself…
Got a chance recently to do some art for a Matthew Dear show. Playing on his reputation as being on the more cerebral side of electronic dance (in addition to his downright doe eyed, brylcreemed, gin sipping alter boy appearance), I got the Constructivist juices flowing and chopped off the less important parts of his head. I wish I’d had more room and scale to work with and made the thing 65″ tall and not 17″, but you work with what you have.
I stumbled upon the website of Scott La Rock a couple days ago, and I can’t stop looking at these signs he hand paints. This is some serious skill.
Just finished up the artwork for Lee Foss’s new record. I can’t wait for people to hear this thing. Lee has an incredible ear for tunes, from New Jack Swing to RnB to cosmic disco to Chicago House. The title track has so creatively twisted all his influences together that it makes my head spin.
I tried to match Lee in layering iterations of influence, process, and composition.
